IQE Plans to Expand Operations in Greensboro, Bringing Innovation and Job Growth to the Region
IQE, a leading global supplier of advanced semiconductor products and services, today reconfirmed its commitment to operations in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company, which has been operating in Greensboro for more than a decade and with 72 employees, plans to further establish the city as a hub for high-tech innovation and add 109 jobs and invest $305 million over several years to expand its manufacturing facility for the next generation semiconductor material, subject to commitments and funding from the federal CHIPS Act.
IQE is focused on enhancing its production capabilities to supply cutting-edge materials across a variety of industries, including telecommunications, defense, and consumer electronics.

The Guilford County Economic Development Alliance, consisting of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and High Point Economic Development Corporation, worked together with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, City of Greensboro, Guilford County, Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, Guilford Technical Community College, and Guilford Works in securing IQE’s investment in Guilford County.
