This year, Triad Margarita Wars is bigger and better! Greensboro Roller Derby (GSORD), YES! Margarita Wars is presented by The Treasure Club, Rock 92, 1075 KZL, Altos Tequila and IH Caffey Distributing.
Triad Margarita Wars will be held at The Mendenhall Station, 220 East Commerce Ave. in downtown High Point, and is a fundraiser for the 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, Greensboro Roller Derby.
“We are very excited for the third year of Margarita Wars, and even more excited that it will be held in a new, covered, location and will be used as a fundraiser for an awesome organization,” YES! Weekly publisher Charles Womack said. “The addition of the 5K from Junction 311 is very exciting and is a great addition to the event. We are also having the super popular band Brothers Pearl, additional, unique food trucks and super vendors that will make this a record setter.”
Competing restaurants and bars include Bad Daddy Burger Bar, Breathe Cocktail Lounge, Burger IM, Char Bar 7, Darryl’s, Double Oaks, Frida’s Mexican Kitchen, Red Crab, Sidelines, Simply Thai, Small Batch, Social on Friendly, Taco Mama, The Alibi, The Deck, The Katharine, The Prescott, and The Treasure Club. Vendors include Big Mouff Cheesesteaks, Del High Bowling Center, For Goodness Cake, Joy Squad Photo Experience, Mind & Muscle Wellness, Monkee’s of High Point, Pure Romance by J. Fran, Que Viva! Latin Food Truck, Rockin Moroccan Food Truck, and Brooklyn Pizzeria.
The sponsors include CityView Apartments, Daly Seven Hotels, Duck Donuts, High Point Convention & Visitors Bureau, Hemp Healer, Kendra Scott, Morgan Moser U.S. Health Advisors, and Junction 311. There will also be live music by the Brothers Pearl.
Attendees will enjoy an unforgettable fall day of tasting some of the Triad’s best-concocted margaritas from area restaurants that will be battling it out to be voted as “The Triad’s Best Margarita.”
There will be several area restaurants on-site with each serving one signature margarita and ticket holders will vote on their favorite.

Katie Murawski (aka The Grimberlyn Reaper), GSORD PR/Marketing co-director and editor of YES! Weekly, mentioned to Womack that GSORD wanted to host the festival this year and use it as a fundraiser to help the nonprofit after it fell on hard times last year.
“Last year, GSORD lost our ‘warehome’ (practice space) and it took a bit of a toll on our membership numbers as well as our finances,” Murawski said. “The proceeds from Margarita Wars will go toward our expenses with renting our current practice space as well as to help us grow and better-serve our members. Our plan is to also raise funds for our new financial hardship assistance program for our current and future members.”
VIP tickets are $40 and include early entrance at noon to the festival, cool swag, a limited edition Margarita Wars glass, and seven drink tickets. General admission is at 1 p.m., costs $25 and includes four drink tickets.
