Overview: The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) is the largest business organization in the Triad and serves as the principal economic and community development organization in Greensboro. We accomplish our work through four program areas: Action Greensboro, Economic Development, Launch Greensboro, and Member Engagement. There is support for these program areas provided by Governmental Affairs, Marketing & Communications, and HR/Finance/Administration.
This position is for a Member Engagement Specialist focused on sales to prospective members. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who is self-directed and motivated to increase chamber revenues via membership acquisition, sponsorships, and chamber services. A key component of the role will be delivering needs-based solutions to member businesses via the chamber’s unique resources. This person will be outstanding at prospecting for new business, be able to quickly build rapport and stay abreast of where prospective members are in the selling process. This position will hold new members in their portfolio through the third full year of membership. The desire to win and to help nurture businesses for growth and prosperity in our local community is key to success for this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Sell Chamber memberships to non-members through cold calling, personal visits and networking opportunities
- Cultivate and maintain prospect lists to sustain a pipeline of new member.
- Assist in the creation of sales materials and messaging
- Work with current Chamber members via face-to-face interaction and various channels for the purposes of member retention to ensure dues are received by the end of the renewal month
- Determine the needs of the members pertaining to programming and revenue opportunities as it relates to keeping the Chamber a relevant, vibrant, and growing member organization
- Sell Chamber products and services related to small business, signature Chamber events, upgrades to tiered dues and other programs as directed by management
- Encourage participation in Chamber events and programs to maximize networking opportunities and meaningful engagement for members for the purposes of retaining the member
- Report updates on sales at all staff meetings
- Advise other members of the member engagement team on strategic sales efforts
- Maintain member files by updating Chamber Master (CRM software) daily
- Attend and actively participate in all Chamber networking events to effectively engage with current Chamber members to promote the organization and the value of membership
- Achieve monthly budgeted revenue goals as set by management
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Education & Skill Requirements:
- At least three years of prior experience in sales preferred
- Ability to build and create a sales plan coupled with the adherence needed to perform daily, weekly, and monthly sales behaviors with discipline and habit
- Ability to identify prospective accounts and existing accounts with growth opportunity
- Ability to conduct and close business with top level executives
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Highly motivated and self-directed in achieving revenue goals
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to work outside of normal business hours for events and presentations, when needed
